Welcome
Our Aim: “To inspire and challenge all learners and prepare them for the future.”
Melbourn Primary School is situated on the Cambridgeshire / Hertfordshire border. The present school’s foundation stone was laid on the 30th July 1855 and over the years the school has grown in size and presently has just over 300 pupils in eleven classes.
During the school’s 150 year history it has gone through many changes as it has adapted to the needs of the local community and the children in its care. Currently the school is undergoing a building project and by April 2011 it will have a new school hall and kitchen as well as pre-school room, children’s centre and two new purpose built Reception classrooms.
I write this introduction knowing that I am the latest, in a long line of headteachers whose responsibility it has been to keep the school at the heart of the local community and to ensure that the pupils in our care learn in a safe and caring environment.
This web-site will allow members of the school community, the village and now the global community to keep up to date with events going on in school and allow us to share with you many of the activities that take place.
I hope that as the school looks to the future it remembers the values of the past and will continue to ensure that the children who start at the school leave as confident learners, who are aware of their place in the world and achieve high standards in all the things they do.
