Welcome to Melbourn Primary School’s website.
Our school is situated in Melbourn village on the Cambridgeshire / Hertfordshire border. The present school’s foundation stone was laid on the 30th July 1855 and over the years the school has grown in size and presently is larger than average with just over 300 pupils in twelve classes. We are fortunate to enjoy a lovely green site with a large school field, adventure play areas, swimming pool and a gardening area.
During the school’s 150 year history it has gone through many changes as it has adapted to the needs of the local community and the children in its care. The school has just taken ownership of a new school hall and kitchen as well as pre-school room, children’s centre and two new purpose built Reception classrooms. It is a very exciting time for the school alongside new accommodation I write this introduction as the new headteacher of the school, so we are in a season of new beginnings in many ways. We are continually striving to evaluate and improve the provision for our children whilst maintaining the school at the heart of the local community, working in partnership with parents, governors and those in the locality.
At Melbourn we consider ourselves to be a strong team and pride ourselves in working together to ensure that all children feel safe and know that they matter whilst learning through a stimulating and meaningful curriculum. We continue to ensure that the children who start at the school leave as confident learners, who are aware of their place in the world and achieve high standards in all the things they do.
If you would like to visit the school, please contact the office during school hours. Thank you for visiting our website we hope you are able to see a little of something of what the school has to offer.
